Born in Sydney, Australia, to an Italian family from the southern region of Calabria, I have grown up surrounded by food. Until I was about 18, due to a very traditional Italian father, the only cuisine I really knew was Italian. After that I discovered the rest of the world, so I’m always on the lookout for new food experiences. We are lucky to live in Australia where there are so many great ones on offer.
This is predominantly a Sydney restaurant food blog, with a some of my recipe attempts thrown in, many Southern Italian specialties from my mother, and with occasional visits to other cities.
Why the name The Napoli Alert? Well, Napoli is my surname. Before this blog was born, I used to send emails to my work colleagues when a new restaurant opened or writing about a new place I’d tried, and the emails were always called The Napoli Restaurant Alert. Since it has morphed into more than just restaurants, I recently changed it to just The Napoli Alert.
